Amanda Sneed
Amanda Cypert Sneed is a long-time Lubbock resident and graduate of Texas Tech University, where she earned a BFA in Design Communications. Although in a creative field by trade, Amanda always felt called to pursue more hands-on artistic endeavors outside of her graphic design day job. Most recently, she found a particular joy and release while haphazardly layering acrylic paint for a class she was taking. It was through this process that her abstract floral paintings evolved, and eventually she started experimenting with other subjects and processes. Her acrylic and mixed media work revolves around exploring form and texture, experimenting boldly with color, and expressing emotion through lines and marks of her favorite subjects: florals, faces and landscapes. Painting has allowed her a freedom not felt through any other creative pursuits, and she found it offered its own kind of therapy that has taught her much about her own life and beliefs. Because of this, her hope is that her work inspires others to find meaning in the chaos of life and search for beauty in imperfection.
